What to do in Cozumel when on a cruise ?
We know how challenging it is for cruise ship guests to make the most out of their day with a limited time to spend ashore. If you are getting off the ship for a few hours, this post will give you good travel tips to enjoy your day in the beautiful island of Cozumel. Fortunately, it is not necessary to spend a huge amount of money on tour excursions because with a limited budget, you can still enjoy what the island has best to offer. We are thrilled to show you what to do and have an amazing time in Cozumel in one day.
What to do first
It is a small island, we suggest that you quickly rent a scooter right out side of the cruise ship terminal for 5 hours it costs less than 35$ thereafter hop-on your scooter and ride along using the unique road Quintana Roo toward south on the west coast. After a 30 minutes drive, you can make a first stop at Playa Bush home of Paradise Café well known as Bob Marley bar. We strongly recommend to stop and take a one hour break to enjoy a fresh homemade Pina Colada. Just sit and relax, you will be able to admire the wild scenery around you. In our opinion, it is by far one of the best places on earth to chill out because no one knows it. It feels peaceful far away from the crowed with a laidback atmosphere where the famous saying “live your life free” originates from, it all makes sense when you experience it.

What to explore
Then get back on the road, head north on the east coast. It is a long breath-taking ride with the Caribbean Sea on your right. You will have time to make a few stops along the way as you will be amazed by different beach spots. Take some time to swim in the crystal-clear water at Playa Chen Rio, San Martin or Paradisiaca where you will find an exquisite mix of white sand and rocks. These are must-see places as it is not too crowded compared to all the beach park and hotel resorts that you will be promoted to visit at the exit of the cruise ship terminal.
Downtown must do
Now it is time to head back to downtown by using Transversal de Cozumel road. After a quick look at Villa del Mar shopping area, you might wonder what to do next. In the city centre, look for a small bar or restaurant by the water. Taste the local food such as quesadillas, fajitas and tortillas with a cocktail additionally most important for scuba diving fans, don’t forget your mask and goggles as you can dive into the water right of your table. The marine life underwater in Cozumel is absolutely stunning therefore, you will admire colourful fish everywhere and turtles if you are lucky. For instance, you can even be greeted by a tribe of iguanas when you get out of the water.
Our favourite one was Turquoise Beach Club on Avenida Rafael El Melgar. For more information click on the link below : http://www.cozumel4you.com/cozumel-things-to-do-99/turquoise-beach-club-review/
Ferry terminal to Playa Del Carmen
You will find the ferry terminal to Playa del Carmen which is a 45 minutes crossing by sea. We recommend you visit this place if you leave early in the morning or if you stay more than one day. On your way back to the ship, many gift shops will be waiting for you, don’t forget to buy your souvenir before sail away.
